The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District have been working together to construct a series of projects intended to restore and protect America’s Everglades.
Planes flying to Hilton Head Airport couldn’t fly at full capacity because of its 4,300-foot short runway. In 2010, officials from Delta Air Lines said that they would be discontinuing service to Hilton Head since they were only able to fly regional jets with restricted loads, which was no longer cost-effective.
